Heidi Hart holds an MFA from Sarah Lawrence College and is a doctoral candidate in German Studies at Duke University. She currently lives in Berlin, teaching creative writing and working on a dissertation on poetry set to the activist music of Hanns Eisler.

Heidi is a Pushcart Prize-winning poet whose publications include the memoir Grace Notes (University of Utah Press, 2004), the four-poet collection Edge by Edge (Toadlily Press, 2007), and several academic articles on intersections of music, literature, and politics.

As a singer, Heidi focuses on German Lieder and 20th-century art song. She has recently given new-music performances in Durham, North Carolina and in New York City. She has two sons, Anders and Evan, who are bringing their own gifts of words and music into the world.
